Mahingan Sagahigan Health & Wellness Centre
Mahingan Sagahigan Health & Wellness Centre provides culturally appropriate primary health care services such as community health, preventative programs, mental health and addictions services, medical transportation and traditional wellness and cultural programs including access to traditional healers and ceremonies. One of the unique aspects of Mahigan Sagahigan is that all the professionals employed by our centre are committed to ensuring our Anishinabe culture is a key component in delivery of care. This is accomplished through a commitment to taking time to develop relationships and language that communicate at all levels of being: mental, spiritual, physical and emotional.

Mental Health & Wellness
Psychological Services: Access to Psychologist appointments both in person and over zoom. Access to Art Therapy appointments both in person and over zoom.
Addictions Counselling, referral to treatment centres
Smoking Cessation
Physical Fitness Initiative: Gym membership, and recreational activities
Food Security: Monthly gift cards to assist with the purchase of groceries are given to participants that meet the program qualifications. Community garden and community kitchen classes are available and provide nutrition education, and access to a free monthly meal.
Youth and Childrens Programming
Land based learning initiatives: medicinal plant harvesting, hunting trips, camping trips.
Activities and workshops that create opportunity to build connection to culture, as well as promote confidence and healthy habits and skills.
Jordans Principle: Access to speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Appointments are done virtually.
Monthly Family Cooking Activities
Children’s 0-6 Programming: Bi-Weekly Baby Bear Bakes Activities, Monthly workshops and activities to encourage family bonding, and fine motor/sensory skills development.

Hepatitis C and communicable disease education and prevention

Medical Transportation
Wolf Lake First Nation members living in the Kipawa/Temiscaming area that need medical transportation must contact the coordinator regardless of the destination. In order for travel costs to be reimbursed, the Medical Visit Attestation (located at the band office) must be completely filled out and signed by the Doctor/Authorized Person.
